Yoga Nidra, often referred to as "yogic sleep," is a deep relaxation and meditation technique that offers numerous physical, mental, and emotional benefits. Studies suggest one hour of yoga nidra equals about 4 hours of typical sleep.

Benefits

  1. Stress reduction
  2. Emotional healing
  3. Reduced anxiety + depression
  4. Enhanced focus+ concentration
  5. Improved self-awareness + more

What will happen in the session?

I will guide you through this practice, directing your awareness to various aspects of yourself, including your body, breath, senses, emotions, and imagery. During this process, you will have the opportunity to set a positive affirmation or sankalpa that holds deep meaning and significance for you in the present moment. Your sankalpa will be private and will not be shared with myself or the class.

  • Yoga Nidra, involves no physical movement so no previous experience is necessary. For experienced yogis, this is an additional form of relaxation. Like like a very long Savasana, you'll be able to lie back, relax and settle into the session.
  • Yoga Nidra is not suitable for those diagnosed with severe depression, severe trauma and severe mental health conditions. Those diagnosed with above issues may practice yoga nidra only after consultation with their doctors as the practice can sometimes worsen the condition.
  • It is recommended Yoga Nidra is avoided during pregnancy, due to the practice primarily undertaken by lying on your back.
  • Yoga Nidra is typically practiced lying down, which may not be comfortable or accessible for individuals with mobility issues or chronic pain.
  • This session will take place in the Studio at High Holborn (ground floor). Mats will be provided but please wear comfortable clothing and bring your own water.
