Skinner Releasing Technique Taster Class
Sat 13 May 2017, 11:00 – 13:00 BST
Skinner Releasing TechniqueTMC (SRT) is for anyone who loves to dance and for those who would like to discover that they can dance. This approach is based on the conviction that we are all born with an innate coordination and a natural grace.
This taster class explores letting go of tensions in order to discover more ease and freedom in our movement. Hands on partner-studies allow us to feel the body letting go of habitual holding patterns. The body’s alignment, as nature intended is explored and flexibility and strength are cultivated.
Guided poetic imagery quiets the mind and releases us into a deeper state of connectedness and wholeness. The imagery also releases the imagination – movement then unfolds, sometimes in quiet gentle ways and sometimes in surprising and inventive ways. Music supports and propels the dancing in a safe, gentle and supportive atmosphere. These classes are open to all: dancers, non-dancers, artists of any discipline.
This class is run by Mary-Clare McKenna; a performer, choreographer and teacher. Skinner Releasing Technique has been her primary dance practice for twenty-years and since certifying as a teacher in 2001 she has taught widely in artistic communities in the UK, Europe and USA.
We hope to see you there!
