This seminar aims to teach global knowledge and change perspectives on climate change and sustainability, both inspiring and equipping teachers to make their schools sustainable by providing suggestions for a series of lessons and empowering to teachers to suggest a ‘whole school approach’ for their school.
The training session will:
Address the ‘whole school approach’ to achieving a sustainable school both with regard to the total management of the participating school’s buildings and grounds and the curriculum
Introduce the development of an action plan around ‘Sustainable Schools’ activities
Explain the whole SKIPS methodology, approach and process
Introduce the development of lesson planning around sustainability themes.
The training session will create greater awareness in teachers about sustainability and global issues and how to tackle them on your curriculum, and in the practical way you manage your buildings and grounds. It will also equip you to effectively take meaningful teaching into the homes and to parents of the young people. Pupils will be empowered and able to reinforce learning from the SKIPS books with the sustainability lessons they have been taught in the class room.
This training session also aids you to create cost savings, to save energy, water and waste and discuss global sustainability issues. You will be able to address the importance of local action and how it can contribute to the global perspective with peers and persuade others to create change.
This training session equips you to plan curricula, develop lesson plans and take actions to develop the ethos of your school around global issues of climate change and sustainability and adopt a ‘whole school approach’.
