The first part of the day focuses on historic trade routes, opening up new markets and the industrialisation of the fisheries and followed by contributions on the future of cod from marine researchers and food specialists. The SKREI Convention artists and chefs in residence will provide culinary, aesthetic and thought-provoking experiences throughout the day.

19.00 COD FEAST – Museum Nord’s Artists in Residence Spontaneous Deuce are inviting all conference participants, the local community and anyone who would like to take part in a special cod feast. More details coming soon.

The topic of the day is the opportunity to establish a European Cod Route with advisors from the European Commission, project representatives, politicians and those who want to be part of it. We will be discussing food governance and geographies.

COD ROUTE PROJECTS – a forum to present and discuss different European projects, including the Querini Opera to Venice, Via Querinissima, Marzia Liuzza’s cod project, EuroCOD and SKREI Convention

WHAT NEXT? Discussion Groups on developing an action plan for the future with three foci: 1. disseminating the history of Arctic cod 2. tourism and food governance 3. cod culture – artistic expressions and identities
