Sky Cup Of Java Vol. 2
ButterflyPraha 8, Hlavní město Praha
oct. 16, 2025 to oct. 16, 2025
Aperçu
The next Cup of Java meetup is here! Join us for talks on Smithy, K8s operators & Java 25 Structured concurrency.
🚀 Calling all Java devs!
On October 16, we’re opening the doors of our Sky office in AFI Butterfly, Karlín for an evening of code, ideas, and community.
What’s on stage?
- Smithy in Java – a metamodel for your distributed system, Martin Schmied & Michal Janousek, Purebrew
Smithy models can serve as a single source of truth. We’ll demonstrate the Java support end-to-end with small examples. Finally, we’ll cover governance at scale. Enforcing API design constraints, deprecation, and naming rules across teams, so APIs and event schemas stay discoverable, reviewable, and backwards compatible as your platform grows. - Building a K8s operator in Java, Jakub Čecháček
Operators provide a standard means of extending the Kubernetes API. Since K8s is written in Go, it’s no surprise that most operators are also written in Go. After all, the Operator SDK is a Golang framework. That said, did you know that you can actually write operators in any language? Java, in particular, has its own Operator SDK library. This talk will showcase why you might want to develop your next operator in Java, even when Go doesn’t present an obstacle for you. - Structured Concurrency in Java 25 – a smarter way to load data, Jakub Vavřík, Sky Czech Republic
Ever juggled threads and futures only to end up with messy, hard-to-debug code? Structured Concurrency offers a clean, modern alternative — and Java 25 supercharges it with ScopedTaskScope and custom Joiners. You’ll see how virtual threads make concurrent programming both scalable and human-friendly.
Expect fresh insights, lively discussions, and a chance to meet fellow Java enthusiasts. 🍻👩💻
