Event description

Do you have children in your classroom who find it hard to socialise?

Is this affecting their ability to access the curriculum and develop confidence interacting with others?

Are you struggling to meet the needs and support these children in your classroom?

Children can struggle to socialise for many reasons, for example they may have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition, or a language difficulty, be EAL or have social anxiety. It can be really hard to stand back and watch children struggle and often this difficulty can have a big impact on their learning opportunities within school. We know that help early is the best way, even if you are waiting for other services!

The session will consist of:

  • What is it like for a child with social difficulties, and what signs should we look out for?

  • Brief introduction to lego therapy, comic strip conversations, and social groups

  • How to teach core concepts such as eye contact, personal space and body language.

  • The best strategies you can do to help their learning and socialising

We use a combination of coaching and practical activities and will direct you to resources (both paid and free) throughout the afternoon.

This event is ideal for:

Any educational professionals working with children suspected of, or diagnosed Speech and Language difficulties, in:

  • Early Years Foundation Settings

  • Primary schools

  • Secondary schools

This includes: Class Teachers, Teaching Assistants, SENCo's.
