Event description

Description

Join us for our next South London Fawcett Society Volunteer event focusing on Domestic Abuse and the proposed bill that is being passed through Parliament. The historic bill which will hopefully clearly define Domestic Abuse as criminal act will be extremely important for those who experience the devastating effects of DA. Learn from a front line expert from Women's Aid about how domestic abuse can affect women and men and what we can do to help!

The event is free, open to all, and will start at 18:30 on Thursday 28th February at the upstairs event room in the King's Arms Waterloo. The talk will start at 7pm, so arrive with plenty of time to secure your seat, and meet other South London feminists. After the talk, we have a short q&a session with Women's Aid, and more time for networking with other like-minded individuals.

Women's Aid provide expert training, qualifications and consultancy to a range of agencies. This includes professionals working with survivors or those commissioning domestic abuse services. Our campaigns achieve change in policy, practice and awareness, encouraging healthy relationship and helping to build a future where domestic abuse is no longer tolerated.

The 24 Hour National Domestic Violence Helpline on 0808 2000 247 (run in partnership with Refuge) and our range of online services, which include the Survivors’ Forum and The Hideout, help hundreds of thousands of women and children every year.

Please invite your friends, family and colleagues to join us for this important event. If you have any questions about the event, or any special access requirements please do get in touch.
