A one-off intimate workshop creating a decorated Slip-cast Vintage Bottle! You are also welcome to bring your own mould's if you have any to cast with too!

3-part bottle moulds, wooden boards, releasing agents, fettling tools, sponges, underglaze and other decorative equipment is provided in this workshop. Your ceramic vessels will then be bisqued and clear gloss glaze fired and availible for collection in the Little Blue Tea Room over the counter. avialible promotions from the Little Blue Tea Rooms inside Spode Museum.

There will be an introduction to Slip-casting and the artist's process, 1-2-1 support on preparing your casting moulds, Learning about casting timings using P2 Porcelain Slip, how to de-mould your vessel, fettling and decorating your piece for firing.

This workshop will be hosted in the lower gallery of the Spode Museum.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to bring/wear?

Please bring an apron or wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty!

I have reactive skin is PPE provided?

Yes optional PPE is provided for those with reactive skin. This includes latex-free gloves, FP-3 face masks and goggles if you feel more comfortable with extra protection

Will my slip cast ceramics be fired?

Yes, they will be fired at Bisque 990'C and Stoneware at 1220-1260'C in an electric communal kiln. I will be putting a clear gloss glaze over the decorated vessels.

Is there a Toilets?

We have a gender neutral toilet in the museum that is shared with other studio members.

Where do I collect my fired works?

You will be notified by email when your work is ready to collect. The collection point will be in my art studio which where the original workshop was held. I will wrap up your work in packaging for safe travel.

Can I get refreshments?

Yes we have the Little Vintage Tea Room inside Spode museum where you can have hot and cold drinks, and snacks during our breaks!
