Event description

Description

How can I share the impact of public engagement / involvement on both my research and its broader stakeholders in a meaningful way?

What happens when a Public Engagement (PE) or Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) project finishes? Funders and research institutions increasingly expect project leaders to maintain future relationships with public and patient groups. Often funders will expect you to maintain those relationships and, regardless, responsible PE or PPI should plan for what happens at the end. Impact - or the change your work can make - is one way to consider the legacy of your public engagement or patient and public involvement work.

Impact is a loaded term, and one that causes a lot of confusion, and this session will be focused on ways of creating this change in a meaningful way. How can you share the impact of your work in a way that would be beneficial to your future work and to your public or patient partners?

This session will present ideas and case studies form those who have attempted to share impact in the past. This will lead to a conversation and debate about how we can all get better at creating meaningful opportunities for spreading the impact of our work.

This is part of a series of events to support those across the UCL School of Life and Medical Sciences (SLMS) working in Public Engagement and Patient and Public Involvement. These take place regularly, focussing on different topics each time.
