About this event

Health • Yoga

Life can feel relentless at times. The to-do lists never end, our bodies carry more tension than we realise, and our minds are always chasing the next thing. Many of us rarely give ourselves permission to pause.

That’s where Yin Yoga comes in.

Unlike more dynamic forms of yoga, Yin invites us to slow down. It’s a practice of stillness, where postures are held for several minutes at a time. This gentle approach works deeply into the body, nourishing joints, fascia, and connective tissues, while also creating space for rest and reflection.

Think of it as an antidote to the rush of daily life, a chance to soften, breathe, and simply be. People often leave a Yin class feeling grounded, lighter, and more connected to themselves.

This class is for you if…

✨ You feel stuck in stress, tension, or busyness

✨ You’re seeking a practice that calms the mind as much as it benefits the body

✨ You want to explore a style of yoga that’s accessible, inclusive, and deeply restorative

✨ You’re curious about what slowing down might give you

I’m currently training as a Yin Yoga teacher, and this will be my very first community Yin class, although I have been a Yoga teacher since 2014.

At the start of our time together, I’ll share some fundamentals of Yin Yoga so you know what to expect, before guiding you through a 60–90 minute practice. We’ll finish with tea and a relaxed chat. I’d love to hear your feedback as I learn and grow in this new role.

This session is donation-based, so you can contribute what feels right for you. No experience is needed, just come as you are, with an open mind and a willingness to slow down.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to have done yoga before?

Not at all! Yin Yoga is accessible for all levels. Whether you’re brand new or already have a practice, you’ll be guided step by step.

What should I bring?

A blanket (for comfort and warmth) A bottle of water Loose, comfy clothing that allows you to move and relax

Should I eat before class?

It’s best to eat a light lunch a couple of hours beforehand. Yin Yoga involves longer-held poses, so having a full stomach can feel uncomfortable.

How long is the class?

We’ll spend a little time at the start introducing Yin Yoga, then move into a 60–90 minute practice, followed by tea and a chat afterwards.

Is it okay if I can’t stay for tea afterwards?

Of course! You’re welcome to head off straight after practice if you need to, though I’d love to hear your feedback if you can stay.

Do I need to be flexible?

Absolutely not. Yin Yoga is about meeting your body where it is, using support to make the postures comfortable and sustainable.

Is there a cost?

This is a donation-based class, so you can contribute what feels right for you.
