Slow Reading in the Garden
Event Information
Description
Would you like to spend some time reading in beautiful surroundings?
Would you like to reflect on how you read both literary and non-literary writings?
Then join JL Williams and Daphne Loads of the University of Edinburgh at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh on the morning of Wednesday 14th August, 2019.
We’ll be offering an introduction to the ancient contemplative practice of Lectio Divina which allows the reader to slow down and engage deeply and intuitively with a text, so that a range of layered meanings emerge.
There’ll be opportunities to experience the 5 riches of Lectio Divina:
-
Presence
-
Trust
-
Slowing down
-
Embodied response
-
Transformation
All welcome! The event is free, but places are limited and a ticket is required.
