Slow Stitchers are a friendly inclusive social group that meets up 2-3 times a month for making, sharing and learning together. All ages, diversities and abilities are welcome.
We mostly focus on how to create new fabrics from scraps, threads, beads and buttons to make craft items, patches, brooches and wall hangings
Slow stitching is about being in the moment and now worrying about the outcome, just take it slow, one step at a time and see where your journey takes you. You're bound to be surprised by your final creation.
No sewing experience is needed. Janet Semple, our artist tutor is hosting and will happily guide you through all you need to know to get started and offer advice is required. You don't need to be a stitcher or embroiderer, we use straight stitches that are easy to learn. You’ll find it's a fun and rewarding experience that is slightly addictive .
We have fabrics, threads, haberdashery and tools here but do feel free to bring patterned cloth with you to share. If you’d prefer to bring your own craft project to work on, that’s fine too.
2nd and 3rd Thursday of the month (and sometimes the 4th) 1-3pm
To keep our activities accessible, this class is by suggested charitable donation of £5-10 per session.
Refreshments provided.
There are two steps up into the studio with hand rails and 12 steps downstairs to the facilities.
