Event description

Description

The Department for Education (DfE) and Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) are running a joint event specifically for providers of higher education who define themselves as specialist and/or small. This event will be focused primarily on networking, and allowing providers to share good practice around how they have implemented the Prevent statutory duty.

Following HEFCE events in the spring, and conversations with DfE Coordinators, we recognise that there are a number of ways providers are implementing the duty. We also realise that for those that identify themselves as small and/or specialist, this may look different and may pose unique challenges, so we are keen to facilitate an opportunity to network and share effective practice.

This event is being held in London on the 11th October from 10:00 - 15:00 (with lunch and refreshments provided). The day will comprise of talks given by several representatives from across the sector, and will incorporate roundtable discussions and an opportunity for providers to network.

Talks will aim to illustrate how small and/or specialist providers are meeting the requirements of the duty in different ways with a focus on their own specific contexts.

Attendees will have the opportunity to direct general and more institution-specific queries to relevant DfE regional coordinators and HEFCE Prevent Advisers.

For more information on the Prevent Duty please visit HEFCE's website: http://www.hefce.ac.uk/reg/prevent/. If you have any questions regarding these events or require help with registration please do not hesitate to contact HEFCE at prevent@hefce.ac.uk.
