Spend the day inside our central Bristol studio. Cowork with small business owners, grab some social media content, and just hang out.

About this event

We're opening up Studio Cotton to small business owners for (most of the) Fridays this Summer. You'll get to enjoy a lovely calm day in our peaceful pink studio, located next door to St Nicks Market in the heart of our Old City.

These events are open to any small business owners, and perfect for:

  • Chilled-out coworking in our workshop (seats 10)
  • Enjoying a little relief and change of scenery from your office or house to focus on important tasks
  • Sitting back in our small lounge and boffing through some admin
  • Diving into to our library of small business books
  • Using the space to shoot some social media & website content (see below)
  • Meeting some other small business owners and decompressing

As well as our main workshop space, there's a small room that's great for phone calls and short virtual meetings and - subject to availability - a couple of workstations with access to a second monitor.

The sessions run from 10:00 - 16:30, but you can drop in and head off any time. We just ask that you're considerate of other attendees as you do.

Spaces are limited to 10 attendees, plus 1-4 people from the Studio Cotton team.

The kinda businesses that might want to attend

Ya know when you see a small business event online and you're like "well, what kinda people and businesses will actually be there?!". We certainly know that feeling.

Whilst our Small Business Summer Fridays are a brand new event we have run similar sessions in the past. Our typical attendees include:

  • Ecommerce business owners
  • Jewellers
  • Copywriters
  • Graphic designers and illustrators
  • Photographers
  • Virtual assistants
  • Artists and authors
  • Interior designers
  • Bloggers
  • Social media managers

The event isn't limited to Bristol-based businesses.

We welcome people from all backgrounds and experiences, including different levels of business experience and different industries.

We want to make sure every attendee has a brighter day for the time we've spent together - which means a zero-tolerance policy for anyone being a, well, bit of a dick.

We reserve the right to cancel any tickets, up to and including on the day of the event for people who don't uphold our values of being smart, creative, and above all - kind.

Photography and videography

Our swoon-worthy space is a bit of a small business Instagram haven - and we totes encourage attendees who want to book on and grab some snaps for their own brand content.

There are a few ground rules to be aware of:

  • Keep disruption to an absolute minimum
  • Do not photograph other attendees without their express permission that includes where and how you intend to use the photos
  • If you are accompanied by a professional photographer, they will need their own ticket
  • No additional lighting/equipment/loose wires and trip hazards

What to bring

Your laptop (and maybe your charger too) and a camera if you wish to take photos in the space.

We'd also recommend bringing a business card, leaflet or other method of sharing your business information with other attendees.

Refreshments

We have a kettle that will be bubbling away all day for plenty of teas and french press coffee. If your coffee tastes are more refined, we suggest grabbing a latte from Full Court Press on Broad Street or Ka:Fei in the centre.

No food will be provided, but you're more than welcome to bring your own non-smelly snacks.

We highly recommend treating yourself to a delicious lunch from our next door neighbours inside St Nicks Market.

About Studio Cotton and Aime

Studio Cotton is Bristol's leading website design studio for creative small businesses and indie brands.

Aime founded Studio Cotton in 2016 after years in the marketing agency industry because she wanted to work with interesting people, fun brands, and help them get more beautiful products and sicken' services into the world.

Aime will be attending every Small Business Summer Fridays to work on her own projects (but will no doubt be around to chat business and drink copious amounts of coffee).

Getting to Studio Cotton

Studio Cotton is located in the centre of Bristol and served by most public transport routes. Parking on the other hand is a little trickier. There is very very limited Pay & Display parking available.

The closest multi-story car parks are Queen Charlotte Street, Nelson Street and The Galleries Shopping Centre, at the time of writing The Galleries Shopping Centre is the cheapest.

Aime recommends a cheeky Voi scoot session as Studio Cotton has numerous scooter stops near by, and scooting is hella fun.

Studio Cotton is located at 48 Corn Street, but our front door is actually on Exchange Avenue, the lane that runs down the side of St Nicks Market. We're directly opposite the legendary Japanese street food shop Eatchu, so just keep an eye out for a happy little dumpling and look behind you.

Accessibility

Studio Cotton is located on the third floor of a listed building, and unfortunately the building’s elevator on travels to the second floor. For this reason, there is no step-free access available.

Restrictions

Small Business Summer Fridays | Coworking, Content & Community days is a professional session for over 18s. The event is not suitable for children.

Cancellations

If for any reason you cannot attend the event, please let us know by emailing hello@studiocotton.co.uk no later that 17:30 on the Wednesday before your booked session for a full refund.

Cancellations made after this time, including no-shows, will not be refunded.
