Description

Please join us to celebrate Local Charities Day with the launch of the Small Charities Forum

BLCF will be bringing together the small but vital organisations within the county to highlight their work making remarkable differences in their communities.

The Forum will be held on 15th December to tie in with the national celebration of Local Charities Day.

Tracey Crouch, Minister for civil society, said Local Charities Day would look to “shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes and celebrate the commitment of those amazing volunteers who devote their time to improving the lives of others,”

Speakers:

Mandy Johnson

Chief Executive of the Small Charities Coalition will be attending to give advice to groups about where they can access support and resources to help them become more sustainable.

Speaker TBA

Fozia Irfan

Chief Executive of the Foundation stated, “We want to bring these important charities together to talk about the challenges they face and give them a collective voice to speak to decision-makers and funders about what they need. We will also be making significant announcements about how we will be changing the way we fund, to make it easier for smaller local charities to obtain grants”

The event is free but registration is necessary, please register now.

More information.

The Foundation recognises that small charities in particular face a number of significant challenges with public sector funding cuts yet they are often at the heart of communities and best placed to tackle issues as they are so embedded.

Research has shown that the combination of cuts and changes to how funding is distributed is reflected in volatility in charity finances, with smaller charities experiencing income fluctuations often due to their reliance on a single grant or contract. At its worst, a single funding decision can make the difference between survival and shutdown.
