FAQs

1.  REGISTERING FOR THE EVENT

What if I have specific requirements?

We are committed to being as inclusive as we can be: you can take part in the manner that suits you best and in any of the available timeslots. This year we are especially wanting to improve support so that disabled people feel they can join in. We will provide as much additional support as we can between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm on the Saturday, two relatively quiet slots, and between 11:00 am and 12:00 noon on the Sunday, two busier slots. If you would like to run at a different time, please do - we will try to get support you need.

There is a question on the order form asking participants if they want us to contact them about their specific requirements which you can select when booking but also if you do have any requirements, or have information you think we should be aware of to enable you to participate in small park BIG RUN then you can email small.park.big.run@gmail.com with the details and we will do our best to make the necessary arrangements.

What if I cannot afford the entry fee?

We are committed to being as inclusive as we can be.

There is a concessionary ticket available at a reduced rate aimed at under-18s, people on a low wage and others who consider themselves eligible.

There are also a few tickets for runners that are free. These are aimed at those without funds particularly destitute asylum seekers, refugees and unwaged.

We are also really keen to ensure families can take part together and there are two options to help.

  • We have a family ticket available: this is for two adults and up to three under-18s. Please choose the "Family: up to 2 adults, 3 under 18" option. PLEASE NOTE: we will assume that all family members will want to run at the same time(s). If some family members want to run at different times then please email small.park.big.run@gmail.com with the details and we will sort it out.

  • You can also register for the fun run which will take place at 12.15 pm on Sunday 16th June. Entry for that half an hour is free. Details will be published on our website.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

There are no minimum age requirements.

Anyone under the age of 11 must be accompanied by a parent/carer, who must have them in their sight at all times.

Anyone between the ages of 11 and 16 may run independently, but must have permission of a parent/carer, who must take responsibility for their well-being and safety.

We want to make this an enjoyable experience for everyone and include as many of the local community as possible. If you are having trouble making arrangements please contact us

small park BIG RUN

small park BIG RUN is organised by individuals from Sheffield Palestine Cultural Exchange (SPaCE), Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), Sheffield Palestine Women's Scholarship Fund and the local Meersbrook and Heeley community. Local groups participating in the organisation include Meersbrook Park Users Trust and Heeley Development Trust.

SPaCE is committed to promoting Palestinian culture in Sheffield by holding cultural events and, where possible, making live links with Palestinians. In ttandem with the small park BIG RUN we plan to organise a tandem run in Palestine.

The Sheffield Palestine Women's Scholarship Fund is a UK based charity set up in 2007 following a 2006 International Women’s Day Conference where a call was made to support women into education in Gaza. The Fund raises money for scholarships to pay the university fees of poor often refugee Palestinian women into higher education in the Gaza Strip. In 2017 41 women are being supported.

Sheffield PSC has been active in Sheffield since 1990s. It is a group committed to highlighting injustices suffered by Palestinian people. SPSC supports children's' projects in Gaza and funds play and educational facilties and, amongst other intiatives, a mobile library. More recently we have funded a trauma centre to help recovery from the psychological impact of war.
