Small Traces - October 26th from 11- 1pm Meet at London Bridge

Join InspiralLondon and Dancer Ranjini Nair, for Small Traces, a walk that interrogates micro-connections that tell of the colonial history between Britain and South Asia as we pay attention to place names, ghost signs and historical figures that populated Southwark, starting from London Bridge and weaving a way to Elephant & Castle.

On the way we’ll follow the traces of the first Indian temple dancers brought to London, who stepped off their boat at London Bridge. Their presence was widely reported in the newspapers, sometimes even through imagined letters written in their voices. In their memory, I’ll share Indian dance gestures along the way to bring certain words and ideas to life.

At the end of the walk, we pause to write postcards, in our own voices, addressed perhaps to London, to those Indian dancers, or to the other people and moments we’ve met along the route.

Expect to be surprised, engaged and entertained! Please visit inspiral website for updated info on project walks HERE or subscribe to our newsletter here
