Small World: Building Community Together
Mon 27 March 2017, 18:00 – 21:30 BST
Join us to listen to refugee and asylum seekers share their personal narratives, and then through sharing in a meal we can build community together. Unity in Diversity.
As part of an Eat, Act, Pray initative ran by Christian Aid employees, several people from different areas of Belfast and beyond have come together to discuss issues that face society today. We spent two evenings discussing the current response to the refugee crisis and what each person can do. So often we are lost for what can we actually do.
This event is a product of these conversations and is in partnership with the South Belfast Round Table (SBRT), Christian Aid and local church communities and beyond. Our hope is to learn and share our understanding and to grow in deepening our understanding and share in our humanity.
All people are most welcome to come and learn from peoples real life experiences, to share in their experiences and knowledge and grow in community together.
The event will begin at 6-6.30PM with a simple dinner followed by a short introduction, followed by 4/5 15mins sessions in groups of six persons, meeting different refugees or asylum seekers.
After the events main event of meeting refugee and asylum seekers, you will hear from Margaret McNulty, from EMBRACE discussing the local actions to support refugees and asylum seekers. Followed by Helen Newell, Church and Community Officer, Christian Aid, sharing a global perspective from the work Christian Aid engage in.
Financial donations are most welcome so that we may host other events like this.
We would ask if anyone would like to bring a soft drink or desert this would be most appreciated.
We look forward to welcoming you!
