Event description

Description

Many institutions in the UK are reviewing their assessment strategies and considering how the issue of over-assessment can be addressed. This one-day conference builds on the Integrated Programme Assessment workshop held at Brunel in November 2017, and is aimed at exploring the ways in which innovative curriculum design is driving changes in assessment.

You will hear examples of how programmes are being redesigned to reduce assessment and the use of innovative assessment practices, including from:

  • Leeds Trinity University: Challenges and opportunities as the university moves towards Integrated Programme and Assessment Design
  • Sheffield University: The obstacles and successes of a programme level approach in BA Journalism
  • QMUL: BSc Global Health as case study for innovative curriculum design and assessment practices
  • Nottingham University: Redesign of Civil Engineering and use of portfolio assessment
  • Newcastle University: Innovative assessment practices in Pharmacy

Do you want to contribute?

We have room for a few more contributions on topics relating to:

  • Programme level and integrated approaches to assessment
  • Innovative curriculum design as a vehicle to change assessment practices

If you want to share what you are doing, please submit a 100-word abstract with a title to assessment.vc@brunel.ac.uk by the 31st July 2019 and we will respond in early August 2019.
