Smarter ways to run your business: Explore what circular could do for you

Circular economy is a phrase that’s being used more and more as businesses look to become more sustainable. But what is a circular economy, what does actually mean for your business - and how do you get started?

In simple terms, a circular economy is about wasting less and designing things differently. It’s a way of working that cuts down on unnecessary waste, finds smarter ways to reuse or recycle what we already have. And it’s not just about being greener – it’s proven to help with team engagement, cost savings and local supply chains too.

If you’ve ever wanted to bring more sustainability and circular thinking into your business but weren’t sure where to begin, this event is for you.

We’ll hear from two research teams at the Universities of Brighton and Sussex, who’ve been working with local businesses on practical ways to reduce waste, cut costs and boost business resilience - all by thinking more circular. Shova Thapa Karki from University of Sussex, Steve Creed from Circular Brighton & Hove and Adam Jones from University of Brighton will share what they learned, the changes they’ve made and the impact it’s had – from cost savings to customer loyalty.

You’ll also get a first look at new support coming to the city this autumn. Plus X Innovation are launching a brand-new programme for businesses looking to take their first or next steps with circularity - and we'll be hearing from their team about what to expect and how to get involved.

As always, we’ll make time for networking and conversation so you can meet people from across the Chamber and our city who are also interested in and working towards more sustainable business. Bring your questions and your curiosity - and let’s explore what circular means for Brighton’s business community. With thanks to our event partners University of Brighton and Help to Grow, University of Sussex, Circular Brighton & Hove and Plus X Innovation.
