About this Event

SMASHING SELF-DOUBT AS A WOMXN WRITER WITH DR SHARON ZINK

Do you doubt your ability to start or finish a book or other writing project? Has your inner critic made you procrastinate or, worse still, stop writing? Do you find your lack of creative confidence makes it hard to submit or market your work? If so, you’re not alone!I became a feminist writing coach in part because I saw how self-doubt impacted womxn writers way more than their male peers, no matter their talent or experience. In this two hour workshop, we’ll use fun exercises and discussion to start to gain more faith in ourselves as writers dealing with both the proven gender bias of the publishing industry and the specific challenges writing under patriarchy causes for womxn authors.

Open to writers of all levels and from any genre, all you need is paper and a pen and the willingness to share and laugh to take part. The session will be capped at 15 participants to keep it an intimate and a safe space to open up about the things which get in the way of feeling good about ourselves as authors.

We want our event to be inclusive for everyone. In particular, during this difficult time, we want to support people who are facing financial issues. We decided to offer 3 free tickets to those who cannot afford to pay the workshop fee. Please, drop us a line at event@feministlibrary.co.uk.

I’m Dr Sharon Zink – a feminist writing coach for women with big things to say. A former english lit academic with a lot of teaching experience in universities, as well as private writing groups, I possesses a postgrad in education and Martha Beck coach training and love being in the classroom. My first novel, Welcome to Sharonville, was longlisted for the Guardian first book award and I’ve been named as young poet of the year and writer of the year for my short fiction as well, so I know first-hand both the joy and hard work involved in creating a writing career as a woman living under patriarchy. I’m on a mission to get more women’s books written, published and out there changing the world.I hope you will join me. You can read more about me here or check out my instagram or facebook group the literary revolution, as I love meeting other writers.
