The Scottish Marine Environmental Enhancement Fund (SMEEF) invites prospective grantees to attend this applicant support webinar for the first open grants round of the Seabird Resilience Fund, ‘Taking Flight’.

SMEEF is designed to help bridge the nature finance gap. Gathering voluntary donations from interested groups and individuals, SMEEF then strategically distributes them to help overcome barriers, catalyse change or address other blocks to progress. SMEEF is hosted by NatureScot and overseen a Steering Group comprised of NatureScot, Crown Estate Scotland and Scottish Government, thereby ensuring the closest possible alignment to policy and adherence to latest evidence.

The Seabird Resilience Fund was set up to help safeguard the future of Scotland’s seabirds following an investment of £1.6m in voluntary donations from renewable energy developers.

Taking Flight is open from Monday 22nd September until midday on Friday 7th November 2025, for decisions in early 2026. Expected successful grants will be in the range of £25,000 to £250,000, over a maximum length of three years.

In this webinar, the SMEEF grants team will give a brief presentation about Taking Flight, followed by an opportunity for prospective applicants to speak directly with the team and ask questions about the criteria and application process.
