Join Remiiya Badru of Smile in the River walking tours as she leads you on a curated walking adventure exploring the hidden gems of this unique corner of east London. for a carefully curated journey starting from the beautiful and historic The House Mill, Three Mills Lane in Bromley-by-Bow. As we trace the path alongside the River Lea, we’ll take in striking architecture, local history, and moments of stillness and serenity.

We’ll pause to observe a series of public artworks along The Line sculpture trail, before weaving our way to Cody Dock—a hidden sanctuary teeming with wildlife and steeped in maritime and industrial heritage. After crossing the iconic rolling bridge, we’ll follow the water’s edge down to Trinity Buoy Wharf, where Bow Creek meets the River Lea. Here, you’ll encounter London’s only lighthouse, and step into a thoughtful tribute to the pioneering experiments of Michael Faraday.

At our final destination Trinity Buoy Wharf walkers will be able to see elements of SS Robin - the world's only surviving complete Victorian steamship - built right here on the Lower Lea in 1890.

Please note that the lighthouse and SS Robin are not accessible for wheelchairs and mobility scooters due to their historical design.

Bus routes 108. D8 and 488 stop outside Tesco, Three Mill Lane – a 3-minute walk away.

Bus Routes 25, 276 and 425 stop at Stratford High Street Bow Flyover – a 5-minute walk away

By Road

From the Blackwall Tunnel Approach (A12), southbound, take the slip road (Hancock Road) to Tesco No parking is permitted on the Three Mills Island but visitors may use the Tesco car park
