Smoking Cessation Practitioner - Refresher Training
Overview
Training Overview:
This 4-hour session will update your knowledge and skills to support you to continue to provide Smoking Cessation interventions to those wishing to quit smoking, including assessing readiness to stop smoking, understanding nicotine addiction and current practice guidelines, updates on medications and other topics such as e-cigarettes.
Pre-Requisite:
All participants wishing to attend will need to have completed the NCSCT Stop Smoking Practitioner online training module, previously attended Level 2 face to face training and currently delivering smoking cessation interventions.
At the end of the training, you will get a certificate of attendance to evidence Level 2 Face to Face Refresher training has been completed.
What does the training cover?
· The LCS Specification and PharmOutcomes
· Smoking prevalence locally and nationally
· Pharmacological treatments (smoking cessation medications)
· Local services and referral systems
· E-cigarettes
· Behavioural support - planning and delivering
· Smoking in pregnancy
Who is the training suitable for?
All current smoking cessation advisers who are delivering smoking cessation interventions. This refresher training should be completed annually.

Registration and Arrival
Please can you arrive at 12.20pm i.e. 10 minutes prior to the training start time at the Civic Offices Reception, Guildhall Square. A Wellbeing Service team member will then accompany you to the Training Room.
