there are other factors that can also increase the potential for tooth damage.

- Better understand extrinsic and intrinsic acid damage and cross over with caries

as both can co-exist.

- What does this mean to our oral microbiome and biofilm formation?

- Discuss what effects this has on different areas of the tooth surface and why some

individuals are more susceptible.

- Apply this knowledge to help patients at risk of caries and erosion

Dr. Michael Heffernan
Michael Heffernan graduated from Guy’s Hospital (UK) and completed his Masters Degree in Prosthodontics at the University of Iowa (USA). His research won the prestigious John J. Sharry Research Prize from the American College of Prosthodontists. Michael was awarded a scholarship at the University of Florida in a dedicated implant fellowship. He returned to the UK and works clinically as a Specialist Prosthodontist. He has lectured internationally on implant dentistry and co-founded Dr Heff’s Remarkable Mints in 2014. His passion remains in research and spreading the preventative dentistry message.

Dr. Toby Edwards-Lunn

Toby Edwards-Lunn is part owner of a private general practice in Eastbourne East Sussex. He qualified from Guys in 2000 and was awarded his MRFDS RCS in 2005. Since then, he has based himself in general practice at West Terrace in Eastbourne. His practice has strong preventative emphasis utilizing a team approach in all aspects of dentistry. He passionately believes in enabling his patients to get involved in all aspects of their oral well being by educating them and ensuring a strong working relationship between patient and clinician. In 2016 he joined forces with Mike Heffernan to create Dr Heff’s Remarkable mints after seeing how there was space for all day protection for teeth.
