Event description
The SMP is delighted to invite you to another AGM this year featuring special guest - street musician and albinism activist Lazarus.

About this Event

We are thrilled to announce that we will be joined at our AGM by a very special guest – rising star of world music Lazarus Chigwandali from Malawi’s capital Lilongwe – for the Scottish premiere of his Madonna-backed bio-documentary 'Lazarus'.

Lazarus will also perform live with Edinburgh-based musicians from Malawian diaspora in Scotland.

Since being brought to the attention of the wider world by Mumford and Sons and Baaba Maal producer Johan Hugo, Lazarus has recorded an album, featured in a documentary film about his life and become a spokesperson for Africans with albinism – a group that suffers persecution, violence or death as a result of myths and superstitions surrounding the genetic condition.

We will also have the usual AGM standbys such as the marketplace and networking opportunities.

Where: Conference Centre, the Royal College of Physicians. 9 Queen Street, Edinburgh. EH2 1JQ.

When: Saturday, October 5 from 2pm to 5pm.

We'll also be celebrating our members' achievements over the past year, sharing stories, and connecting with individuals and organisations across Scotland with Malawi links.

If you wish to host a stall at this year's AGM, please select the 'Stallholder' ticket option.
