Event description

Description

At 1085m (3565ft) Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales, and the highest point south of Scotland. Surrounded in history, myths and legends and at around 500 million years old, boasts some of the oldest geology in the world. See where King Arthur was slain and his body cast off to Avalon, hunt for fossils of shellfish right on the summit. Learn of its explosive past and how the mountains of Snowdonia were formed. See the rare alpine plants that cling onto life after being left behind after the last ice age.

There are 6 main routes up to the summit of Snowdon. We will take the Rhyd Ddu path, one of the quieter and most scenic of the routes up. And descend via the South Ridge and through the old slate mines. A walk of around 7.5 miles.

You will have fully qualified mountain leaders with you every step of the way, who are all also qualified first aiders and fully insured for this type activity.

Price is £25pp with all proceeds going to Bywyd Gwyllt Glaslyn Wildlife - Glaslyn Ospreys.

Climb Snowdon while raising money for a great cause.

You will need hiking boots or shoes (preferably boots), warm clothing, hat, gloves, waterproof over trousers and coat and a packed lunch for the day. The tops of the mountains can still be very cold in summer.
