About this event

Home & Lifestyle • Home & Garden

We had such a good time at our first market at Merton Abbey Mills in September, that we decided to do it again this autumn!

At a scenic spot on the banks of the River Wandle, Abbey Mills is cluster of old textile factory buildings packed with history. The site was used for textile manufacturing for centuries and was where Liberty & Co and William Morris produced their intricate silk print designs in the arts and crafts period of the late 18th and early 20th centuries. Today it’s home to craft workshops, potters, independent shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, a theatre and lots of small businesses. There’s also a small visitors’ centre and a large, working waterwheel.

On Saturday 1st November, thirty vintage traders from across London, the south and further afield, will be gathered outside with thousands of amazing and unusual things to discover and buy.

Around the piazza and between the mill’s buildings you’ll find a big selection of mid 20th century and vintage furniture, lighting and interior decoration, homeware, original posters, prints, antique maps and charts, books, records, French brocante, vintage clothes (including for children), and lots more.

Most traders take card payments, and will deliver locally if you want to buy something big, like a piece of furniture.

Grab a coffee when you arrive, and take a break for lunch from one of the variety of independent eateries on site. With three pubs here you won’t go thirsty, either!

Abbey Mills is on the Wandle Trail, a twelve mile riverside walk between Croydon and Wandsworth, with Morden Hall Park (National Trust) and Deen City Farm nearby, so there won’t be a lack of other things to see and do when you come along on the first day of November!
