Description

SOAP ISN’T A DIRTY WORD with WAYNE LINGE

DATE: Tuesday 20th March

TIME: 6:30-9:30pm

LOCATION: Old Vic Workrooms, 16 Drummond Road, Bermondsey, SE16 2JX

HOW WILL IT WORK?

Soap Opera is the backbone of UK television drama. Soap (or to give it its modern title ‘Continuing Drama’) is where many actors secure their first on-screen experience and has been the springboard for many careers. So how should you approach a casting for Soap? And how does it differ to castings for other drama?

The workshop will look at:

How to prepare for your casting

What the Casting Director is looking for in the room

How to build on the experience, even if the casting didn’t go your way

Across the three hour session your read will be in front of the other actors in the workshop. We will film the reads and watch a selection of them back as a group. You’ll be offered feedback on the reads / clips and also have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

PREPARATION

48 – 24 hours before the session you will be sent your scenes (also called ‘sides’).

This material will be chosen based on you; i.e. it will be a character you could expect to be cast as so please send your headshot and CV to hello@themonobox.co.uk as soon as you have booked so we have enough time to prepeare your material.

You will only receive sides, not the whole script.

You will be expected to be as familiar as possible with the material. But you are welcome to bring a paper copy for your read.

The material will be taken from broadcast scripts.

COST: £15
