This year's African Development Forum is entitled 'African Social Enterprise: Development from Within'.from Within.” An understanding of contemporary African development is incomplete without an analysis of how local people tap in to business-orientated opportunities for growth. Social entrepreneurs are key drivers in this growth, responding to gaps in service provision and investing in socioeconomic development within their own communities. The goal of the ADF for 2015 is to celebrate the successes of social enterprises in Africa, discuss how various movements are inspiring change from place to place trans-regionally and nationally, and to assess the capacity of social enterprise to drive future socioeconomic growth for the continent Africa.
The forum will start at 11.45am (registration starts at 11.00am), finishing at 5.00pm. This year’s forum will be comprised of three separate panel discussions:
1) Social Enterprise: Building Social Capital
2) Social Enterprise in Service Provision, and:
3) Social Enterprise: the Bigger Picture.
The SOAS ADF 2015 will take place on 14th March 2015 at the Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre, SOAS, University of London (near Russell Square tube stop).
