SOAS Concert Series: David Trasoff & Prabhu Edouard

In The Moment - Music for Sarode & Tabla

The performance of North Indian raga music is spontaneous, within a highly structured traditional framework of melody and rhythm. It is also tied to the time of day, the seasons, and the immediate relationship between performers and their audience. Based in the United States and acclaimed for his performances around the world, David Trasoff is a senior disciple of the late maestro Ali Akbar Khan, with whom he studied sarode performance and North Indian classical music from 1973. Prabhu Edouard meanwhile, is regarded as one of the most versatile tabla players of his generation, having learned from renowned tabla maestro Pandit Shankar Ghosh. For this concert, these masters of their art will perform together and in the moment, taking you on a unique journey through North Indian raga.

Recommended donation: £3.

Please note that venue capacity is limited and making this donation online guarantees that you will be allocated a seat for the concert. Remaining seats on the night will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
