Event description

Description

FRAN & FLORA (UK)
Powerful Interpretations of Eastern European Tunes

String duo Fran & Flora have developed a reputation as one of the most innovative emerging ensembles in the UK. Combining outstanding musicianship with compelling arrangements and “fiercely passionate” performances (BBC Radio 3’s Max Reinhardt), violinist Flora Curzon and folk and experimental cellist Francesca Ter-Berg captivate their audiences with tunes borrowed from klezmer, Roma music and other traditions throughout Eastern Europe. Delicately navigating issues of authenticity, the duo has spent years developing a sound that is simultaneously reverent to the traditions they have been studying and also deeply personal.
