Event description
Come and hear about the latest developments and our future plans for the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) extended framework.

About this event

In April 2021 the ONS published the first version of the Standard Occupational Classification SOC extended framework. This involved taking the existing four-digit SOC and adding an additional layer of detail termed a Sub Unit Group which is comprised of six digits.

The extended framework has been developed to help identify emerging occupations and aid the tracking of employment trends.

Further developments have since been made to the framework and in this show and tell the SOC extension team, will explain more about the recent work they have undertaken to continue the development of the framework and the new supporting tools they have created.

The team will also talk about how the scope of the project has evolved. They will highlight the work they are now undertaking to look at ways to expand and address the challenges involved in using the framework to aid statistical production.

This event will take place online via Teams. Register to access the Teams link. For further questions about this event contact
