About this event
Social enterprise is big business. Last year a record-breaking 12,000 social enterprises were created by entrepreneurs seeking to better their communities in the wake of the pandemic. In terms of new business, social enterprise is where the action is.
This interactive event will support you to;
• Set up a social enterprise
• Explore different examples of social enterprises
• Understand the motivations behind them
• Learn the different set up structures available
Led by Naomi Mwasambili, Naomi is the founder and CEO of Chanua, a healthcare innovation agency solving some of the biggest challenges in mental health and wellbeing. She has over 10 years’ experience developing new projects, services and businesses that improve health and wellbeing. She is also one of LSBU's Entrepreneurs in Residence, and has many years' experience supporting students and graduates to start and grow their own ventures.

This event kick starts the Social Enterprise Series, which consists of 4 online events delivered by Student Enterprise at LSBU throughout February 2022.
This event is free to attend and everyone is welcome.
This event counts towards a Certificate in Enterprise*.

FAQs
How do I join this online event?
To attend this event please register in advance through Eventbrite. Registration will be confirmed via an email from Eventbrite.
A few hours before the event, you will receive an email from Eventbrite with the event link and instructions on how to join the event. If you do not receive this link, please check your junk folder, read the Eventbrite FAQs for more information or email studententerprise@lsbu.ac.uk. We will be able to respond up to 1 hour before the event is due to start.
What do I need to do before the event?
Please make sure you join the event from a location with strong internet connection. Use headphones if you can to minimise background noise. Test your audio is working and your volume is set to high. If you have difficulties joining the event, please visit Zoom’s FAQ page for technical advice, including how to check your device’s settings.
*What is the Certificate in Enterprise?
LSBU students and alumni can obtain a Certificate in Enterprise by taking part in six Student Enterprise activities throughout the academic year. Please keep a record of online events attended to help you to keep track of the events you’ve attended.
What support is available to students who wish to start a business at LSBU?
We offer exciting workshops, start-up programmes led by inspirational speakers and competitions to help you to get your business off to the best possible start, and keep it going.

Yes, our events are open to members of the public. All we ask is that you come with the willingness to learn something new and an entrepreneurial mind-set. Please register under the 'Other' category.
How will my data be used?
By signing up to the event, you are providing us with your personal data. Your data will be used to support the management and administration of the event and for sharing any post-event materials and feedback. We have a statutory obligation to report the number of events attendees to HESA on an annual basis through the HECBI Survey and to prepare internal reports on engagement in enterprise activities. Your Personal Data may be used as part of this report.
