Event Details

Who… Aimed at arts, music and cultural organisations, schools and practitioners working with children and young people and interested in understanding and accounting for the difference they make.

Why… At the moment there is a bewildering amount of work and thinking taking place in relation to: impact, research, outcomes, cultural value, social and cultural return on investment, quality, data, evaluation and monitoring etc etc etc!

We try to cut into this complexity in a pragmatic and straightforward way so that you can make informed choices about your own way forward when accounting for and reflecting upon the work you are doing. We don't present a specific or recommended way of going about tackling this area (there are very many and we will do some signposting!) Instead we will take a big picture look at what 'counts', what gets valued, measured and why, who says so, and then how this gets heard and by who. And, by analysing and understanding all of this context a bit better, it is then easier to decide and make choices about how you might want to go about looking at, reflecting on and communicating about your own impact in your own organisation or context.

What….We will cover a few tools you can use to do all of this better, based on the group and their needs at each session, and we will also cover some of the current trends and thinking in this area, for example from the social enterprise sector. There will be scope to learn from others and think practically about how you might approach this area differently going forward.

This briefing is free of charge, thanks to Arts Council England.

Cancellations: Please note that cancellations 10 days or more prior to the event will be given a full refund. In order to cover booking costs cancellations less than 10 days prior to the event will not be refunded.
