Social Innovation Conference
'Working together to make YORK better'
Friday 15th June 2018
9.30am - 3.00pm (9.30am - 10.00am registration)
De Grey Court, York St John University
A networking conference to bring York charities, the voluntary sector and local businesses together to promote synergies and social enterprise; to make a strong unit that ‘works together to make York better’. The conference will be a mix of speeches and breakout workshops. In the main foyer there will be a number of small stalls to permit engagement with a number of local charities.
Confirmed Speakers:
Rachel Maskell MP
Rachel is the Labour Member of Parliament for York Central and will be speaking of the political context as it applies to homelessness and the charity sector.
Abigail Scott Paul, Joseph Rowntree Foundation
Abigail is Deputy Director of Communications and will be speaking about JRF’s work to ‘reframe’ poverty in order to communicate more effectively with stakeholders, and build support for the need to solve poverty in the UK.
Bianca Robinson – CEO Sleepout
Bianca is National co-ordinator of CEO Sleepout and will be speaking about how to effectively involve the business sector with the charity sector.
Conference will be chaired by Jane Hustwit – York CVS
Conference aims:
- Dissemination of Knowledge
- Engagement - Through discussion and networking at the conference we can improve sector engagement and encourage collaboration and social innovation.
- Knowledge sharing - Promote best practice and build alignment between local third sector organisations.
