Event description

Description

Are you a socially engaged artist, creative or volunteer interested in learning about how to make effective films for social media channels?

Through the widespread availability of technology and the awesome power of the internet and social media, videos have never been more prevalent as a way of sharing stories, spreading information and promoting products, styles and ideas.

But what makes a good story for video? How does the short form nature of social media change our storytelling? How do you make social media films with tools and equipment you already have?

This session will explore these questions and aims to give practical advice and experience for telling your own stories through video

Participants will

  • Learn about storytelling principles for video
  • Have an introduction to video formats and video for social media
  • Gain confidence to create short videos using their in-house equipment

Participants should bring whatever they have to make films with - this can be smartphone, tablet or laptop. These should be fully charged before the day, and have plenty of available space for filming and editing new footage. If you're bringing an apple device please make sure it has iMovie downloaded, if it's a PC then make sure you have windows movie maker installed.

This course is run for Creativity Works by filmmaking experts Suited and Booted who have a multitalented team making corporate videos, branded content, video marketing, internal communications, and animated videos.

This co|Create course is subsidised through Creativity Works and B&NES funding.
