With offices in Maidstone, Tenterden and Canterbury, Whitehead Monckton has grown to be one of the largest legal practices in the county.
We balance our practice between our business and personal clients. This ensures that every single client will receive the very best advice, support and quality of work, no matter what their background, tailored to their specific needs.
Whitehead Monckton has served companies and individuals in Kent for over 230 years. Our local knowledge enables us to introduce clients to business opportunities and commercial relationships in the county. We are uniquely placed in our knowledge of the economics of the area and the opportunities that Kent offers and we can assist those organisations moving into the area by introducing them to social, business and professional communities.
Our success depends on the experience and commitment of our people dedicated to provide the very best client care. We have therefore chosen our people for both the quality of their legal skills and their commitment to supplying an excellent client service.
Both the lawyers and support staff work in integrated teams focused on different practice areas to ensure we provide specialist services to all our clients, whatever their background or needs. We are proud of the fact that all our people are approachable and possess the skills to deliver a high quality legal service quickly and efficiently.
Louise Purcell will be exploring and presenting past cases with one think in common - Social Media.
What can we learn from Case Law?
Louise Purcell – Senior Solicitor
Louise read law at Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London and graduated in 2001. After University, she went on to undertake further legal study at the Inns of Court School of Law in London. She trained as a solicitor at Irwin Mitchell in London and qualified in 2006. She has specialised exclusively in the employment field for over ten years.
A particular focus of Louise’s is Employment Tribunal advocacy. As an in- house advocate at Capsticks, she represented a number of NHS Trusts, at Employment Tribunal hearings across London and the South East. She finds that her direct experience of Employment Tribunals is a valuable experience, on which to draw when advising clients about employment issues.
Louise joined the firm in March 2016 and is look forward to working with the firm’s existing clients and new ones.
Louise regularly advises and represents employers. She always seek to provide commercial and pragmatic, cost effective advice. She has particular experience of working with businesses in the healthcare, retail, and construction sectors. She has also worked with schools, charities and a number of SME’s. She often works for employees too. She is able to provide advice to employees about their options, contracts, grievances and employment disputes. She is often engaged to negotiate exit packages and settlement agreements. She has recently advised and represented individuals working in banking, healthcare, construction and the media, as well as other senior employees/directors and professionals.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is a pay and display car park a 1 minute walk away on Watling Street and the multi-story car park above Tesco Metro is also very close. Please be generous on your parking tickets - although we like to be punctual there are times when the useful conversations and dialog take us a little over the time.

When & Where
CIPD Kent Branch
We are the Kent branch of CIPD - the professional body for HR and people development. The not-for-profit organisation champions better work and working lives and has been setting the benchmark for excellence in people and organisation development for more than 100 years.
We have a wide range of organisations and CIPD membership and we respond to this with a full selection of CPD and networking opportunities.
Due to the geographical spread of the county we have 3 area groups – Mid Kent, West Kent and East Kent. Between them they regularly hold sessions with guest speakers on subjects requested by the members. Most events are supported by local companies who host the events and provide an opportunity to meet other HR practitioners.
We also appreciate the specialisms within HR and have Special Interest Groups that meet regularly and occasionally have speakers. These groups include Health and Social Care and Senior Practitioners. Similarly we have smaller bespoke groups, Self Managed Learning Groups that operate throughout the county. These include the Coaching Groups in East Kent and West Kent. We encourage the creation of new groups so if there is not an area covered, why not set one up?
Come along to an event and meet our friendly and welcoming committee members and the wonderful HR community of Kent!
