About this event
Suitable paddlers with some experience (not suitable for total beginners- try a taster session first)
This session is a relaxed, informal and social paddle with the SYC SUP School instructors available. There will be a chance to talk technique, learn new skills, discuss the Adur nature reserve, paddle up and down river Adur and a chance to meet other paddlers and SYC members. There will be some racing and some games thrown in for some fun.
Meet at the SYC SUPShack 15 minutes before session.
Attendees are welcome to bring along their own boards or hire one from SYC.
Session cost is £10.00 when hiring a board or FREE if bringing along your own board.
Details for Non-Members:
Please select the session that includes day membership. This allows you to use all the club facilities including showers, the bar and restaurant.
Please Note: A maximum of 3 Day Memberships can be purchased in any 12 month period, After 3 visits, full membership must be taken up before next water participation, Day Memberships can be used as discount against full membership within 3 months of the last payment
SUP SESSION INFORMATION
SESSION INSTRUCTIONS
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the sessions commencing.
Parking is very limited and for members only, please use on street parking in Shoreham and walk to us.
The SUP Shack is found by walking past the main building towards the footbridge.
The session will start with some land-based training, before heading out on the river, and a debrief after the paddle. You are welcome to have a drink in the clubhouse after the session.
Bring a towel, showers are available in the clubhouse
Footwear – old trainers or wet shoes - flat soled – you will be able to take your shoes off and keep on the board however when on land will need suitable footwear that may also get wet – if you have a dry bag you can secure it on the board
Some light clothing (not jeans), or a wetsuit, and some further layers if necessary - Bring a change of clothes – Just in case!
Sunscreen lotion
Water
You are welcome to bring your own Buoyancy aids alternatively the club will provide these for you – everyone must wear these during their session.
Any medication you may need
There will be small lockers available for valuables however SYC cannot be responsible for any of your belongings
The session will only proceed in safe conditions this will be assessed by the instructor and postponed in the event of high winds etc. You will be notified via the app/email should this affect your booking.
COVID-19
If you, a member of your family or someone you have been in contact with has COVID-19 of symptoms of COVID please do not visit the club
You will have to provide the club with your contact details for track and trace
Please ensure when you are indoors less than 2m away from someone not in your household, you wear a face covering at all times. Face coverings to be worn while moving around inside the club buildings
There will be alcohol gel and wipes available for equipment
