This course supports artists and arts organisations to understand how arts & culture can play a key role in social prescribing in Croydon.
About this event
Free training opportunity for independent artists and arts organisations in Croydon
Supported by Arts Council England, this modular course supports artists and arts organisations to build an understanding of how arts and culture can play a key role in healthcare and social prescribing.
In the first three 2-hour online modules, the programme will provide you with a better understanding of social prescribing referral processes within Croydon, exploring some of the practical challenges of providing arts and cultural offers within a social prescribing context.
We will focus on the self-care and wellbeing of artists providing this work, as well as honing verbal and non-verbal communication skills to ensure that offers can be articulated clearly to social prescribers, healthcare professionals and participants. We will examine current offers and case studies from the arts and health sector, providing a sense of how your own offer or intervention might fit into this picture.
The fourth and final module will be delivered as a networking day at Stanley Arts. In this event healthcare professionals, social prescribers, artists and arts organisations will come together to explore opportunities to build a cross-sector professional community, and co-create social prescribing offers that meet the needs of local communities.
The content of this course has been informed by a pilot programme held in Southwark and Merton in Feb 2021.
