Social Responsibility and Sustainability – a workshop for suppliers to the University of Edinburgh

In association with Resource Efficient Scotland (a Government-funded business support programme from Zero Waste Scotland)

university of Edinburgh SRS logoThe University of Edinburgh is committed to social responsibility and sustainability (SRS). Our new ‘Zero by 2040’ climate strategy and our SRS and Procurement Strategies are examples of the ambitious actions we are taking.

While these actions are going a long way to help us reduce our impact on the environment and uphold human rights, we understand that our suppliers also have a critical role to play.

If you are a supplier to the University, this free workshop provides an ideal opportunity for you to learn about our approach and the actions you can take to support our work.

  • Learn about the University of Edinburgh’s social responsibility and sustainability approach
  • Understand the forces driving our approach, including the legal, environmental and social issues that affect all organisations (such as energy security, resource efficiency, the circular economy, modern slavery, conflict minerals and palm oil sustainability)
  • Recognise the important and valued role you can play

An opportunity to beat rising energy, water and waste costs

For the last 4 years, Resource Efficient Scotland has been helping small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) across Scotland to save resources and minimise their environmental impact. Resource Efficient Scotland logo

Independent evaluation has shown that their expertise, interest-free loans and access to grants has so far uncovered over £42 million worth of savings – a substantial 24% energy saving per business on average.

We are thrilled to be delivering this event in association with the Resource Efficient Scotland programme, to help our SME suppliers access this free money-saving support.

  • Understand the global challenges that are driving resource efficiency and the long-term competitive advantage that can be gained by becoming more resource efficient
  • Access free support that will help you reduce your business’s energy costs and cut waste
  • Find out about the latest loans and grants available to your business, including interest-free loans of between £1,000 and £100,000
  • Hear about businesses that have already acted, what they did and how they have benefited

Plus – find out about the University of Edinburgh’s student research placement opportunities that can help you solve sustainability challenges.
