About this event

Slow miles. Good company. Forest magic.

A party pace ride starting at Sway deli. Come early for a pre ride coffee. We'll be taking a route through the Setthorns inclosure, Wooton Coppice inclosure and Holmsley. Martine and Emma will be bringing their kids along Marlon (10) and Violet (8) who both regularly ride solo with their parents. Please feel free to bring along independently riding kids or little ones rinding on tow or on bike seats, for an intergenerational hang riding at a steady pace.

This isn't a typical kids focused ride, so do expect us to be aiming for "party pace" and riding crossing/riding on some roads where unavoidable.

This ride is all about connection — to each other, to the land, and to the simple joy of being out on your bike. It’s a chance to slow down, look up, and share miles with likeminded riders. Expect relaxed vibes, friendly faces, and plenty of time for coffee stops, snack breaks, and soaking up the scenery.

We ride together. We look out for each other. We leave no one behind.

Led by our volunteer ride leaders, this is a no-drop ride. Whether you’re new to off-road riding or have been doing this for years, you’re very welcome.

What to expect:

  • Gravel & mixed terrain over a 13 mile route
  • Social pace — we ride as a group
  • Gravel or mountain bikes recommended
  • Bring snacks, water, and layers

We can't wait to ride bikes with you ✌️

The New Forest Off Road club is a women led cycling community based in the New Forest, Hampshire. Through group rides, mechanic sessions and online workshops, we build community and confidence on wheels. In 2021, we were awarded "Community of the Year" by Bikepacking.com. Cycling Uk referenced our revolutionary ideas, Bike Radar said we are ‘The Future of Cycling Clubs’ and Global Cycling Network drew on our experience for their article ‘How to Take the Macho Out of Your Group Ride’.

Frequently asked questions

Who owns the animals in the Forest?

The ponies, donkeys and cows you see in the Forest are owned by Commoners. Commoners have an ancient right by virtue of the lands they live on or rent, to put their animals out in the Forest.

Can I feed the animals?

Nope. If someone feeds a pony something they haven’t found themselves, let’s say a Haribo or a carrot, this could result in the pony being really unwell or even kill them.

Can I touch them?

If you touch the animals, they become used to human contact which can put them in danger. They beg for food which makes them un well and they can wonder in front of cars at car parks. Admire them from a distance.
