Event description

Description

Comic Strip Conversations are based on the belief that visualization and visual supports, can be useful in supporting the learning of a child with autism.

Comic Strip Conversations include the thoughts and feelings of others as a factor in communication with equal importance to spoken words and actions.

Drawings serve to illustrate the communication, providing additional support to individuals who struggle to comprehend the quick exchange of information which occurs in a conversation. This may also improve an individual’s understanding and comprehension of conversation.

The Empower project is a Big Lottery funded initiative through the Reaching Out Supporting Families Programme which support Families across Mid Ulster and Antrim & Newtownabbey Council areas. The focus of the project is to support children under 12 with Autism, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia, their parents and the wider family circle to enhance confidence and learn together to develop skills to support their children.
