Transgender people face an assault on their rights from Donald Trump in the US to the right wing press across the world.

Here in Britain the Tories plan to block any changes to the Gender Recognition Act and to scrap some of the limited gains Trans people have made. This event will be discussing the key strands in the resistance to these attacks—on the streets, in communities, in workplaces and in unions.

But we'll also be going much deeper and discussing the roots of transphobia and the history of gender transgressive behaviour. Is gender binary? Is gender identity the same as biological sex? What are the roots of transphobia? We'll be discussing these questions and more, and why we should support trans-people’s fight to assert their right to live authentic lives.
