Through these theoretical lenses, together we will critically analyse major works of contemporary fiction and examine how they reflect and shape both contemporary society and the concept of medicalisation: Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children, Hilary Mantel’s Beyond Black, Dave Egger’s The Circle and Lauren Oliver’s Delirium.
