Sociology New Directions Conference 2018
Event Information
Description
The annual New Directions Conference is the flagship event of the Sociology subject area at the University of Edinburgh. It is an opportunity to engage with emerging themes and issues in the discipline, to discover what research is being done in the department, and to explore new ideas with fellow students and staff. This year’s conference (19-20 April 2018) will include presentations from MRes students, first-year PhD students, and advanced PhD students about their work in progress. Our keynote speaker is Professor Giselinde Kuipers (University of Amsterdam). The programme also features several thematic panels composed of PG students and staff members. A pdf of the programme can be downloaded here.
Registration is now closed.
All events will take place in the Project Room 1.06 in 50 George Square.
Sociology students, sociology staff, and guest speakers are invited to attend the conference dinner with catering from Blue Sky at the ground café area of Chrystal Macmillan Building (CMB) on Thursday April 19 following the keynote lecture. (The buffet meal is free for students and conference participants.) For organisational purposes, we need to know by Monday, 16 April how many people are attending the dinner. To reserve your seat, get a "conference dinner" ticket.
If you have any questions, please contact the New Directions Committee at sociologynewdirections@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you there!
