Sofia in the Tees Valley: Kier Infrastructure and J. Murphy & Sons Limited
Event Information
About this event
Sofia Offshore Wind Farm and its contractors are committed to the development and growth of a competitive UK supply chain, and to ensuring local suppliers are well placed to be involved with local contracts. To support this, Sofia would like to provide companies based in Tees Valley and surrounds with the opportunity to learn more about the project and its activity, particularly in the local area.
This is an invitation for you to attend a networking event being held in conjunction with Tees Engineering Network (TEN) and organised by NOF / Energi Coast with presentations from Sofia Offshore Wind Farm and two suppliers working on the project in Tees Valley: Kier Infrastructure and J. Murphy & Sons Limited.
Kier Infrastructure, working under Tier 1 contractor GE’s Grid Solutions, will construct Sofia’s onshore converter station, while J. Murphy & Sons Limited will be responsible for the civils works for the onshore cable route for both Sofia and adjacent project Dogger Bank C. Both contractors will start work in early 2022.
This will be a face-to-face event and free to attend.
Leading UK construction and infrastructures contractors Kier Infrastructure and J. Murphy and Sons will both be contributing to the shaping of Sofia Offshore Wind Farm as they move onto site in 2022. Kier Infrastructure will be constructing the project’s onshore converter station as a contractor to GE’s Grid Solutions and J. Murphy will be carrying out the civils works for the cable route which runs from Marske-by-the-Sea to the converter station site next to Wilton International. The scopes of work will include some interesting engineering challenges, employing innovative techniques and high-voltage direct current technology.
