Description

The Course developed from the longstanding Diploma and Masters Programme in Implantology in Cardiff which is now in its 10th year.

The Course is aimed at practitioners who have experience of implant placement and wish to further their knowledge, understanding and practical ability, to optimize the cosmetic and functional outcome of implant and restorative treatment in their patients.

Course Summary

The 2-day course, of seminars and practical tuition provides insight into all aspects of soft-tissue management in implant dentistry; from initial case assessment and second-stage surgery to mucosal- and connective tissue-grafting, as well as attachment-loss surgery. The Course is taught by a highly experienced faculty, in an open/user-friendly format of lectures, practical workshops and discussion groups.

Educational summary

On completion of this course delegates will have:

  • an understanding of the aesthetic and scientific principles of aesthetic flap design in implant surgery

  • the ability to raise split-thickness-, rotational- and palatal connective tissue grafts and perform attachment loss surgery

  • the ability to directly transfer this knowledge and these techniques to the management of their patients.

The course is accredited for 12 hours of learning for CPD

Detailed Programme:

  • Principles of peri-implant aesthetics and assessment techniques

  • Local anatomy and biology of soft-tissue healing and grafting in plant dentistry and periodontal disease

  • Suturing techniques to optimize outcome using microsurgical instruments

  • Aesthetic flap design

  • Palatal roll flaps, connective tissue grafts and tunnel flaps

  • Split-thickness flaps and rotational connective tissue grafting

  • Recession surgery for implants and teeth

  • Management of difficult cases

  • Complications and their management
