Discover four centuries of history and diversity in a walking tour that delves into the rich heritage of Soho - with a Jewish twist! Join us as we explore the quirky streets of central London’s Bohemian playground, and learn about its fascinating and multi-layered history. This includes its Georgian origins; different waves of immigration over the centuries; Soho's musical and theatre heritage; the vice trade; famous restaurants, pubs and clubs; and London's gay village. Furthermore, your guide will describe the area's eclectic Jewish history - from street traders and tailors to musicians, theatre producers and hairdressers! This tour is for everybody!

How long is this guided tour?

The total walking distance covered during this guided tour is approximately 1.5 miles (2 km), which we will do at a comfortable walking pace in about 90-120 minutes, including stops at many points of interest.

What happens if it is raining?

Walking tours take place in all weathers! Dress appropriately, and please join us.

Where does this tour start and end?

We will meet in Soho Square Gardens, by the statue of Charles II (three minute walk from Tottenham Court Road tube station). We will end about 90-120 minutes later in Chinatown (five minute walk to Piccadilly Circus or Leicester Square tube stations).

Marc Gardiner is an official City of London Tour Guide, offering tours in both English and French. He holds the Green Badge qualification from the Institute of Tourist Guiding, and is a member of the British Guild of Tourist Guides. Marc is also currently studying for the official City of Westminster tour guiding qualification, with completion expected in summer 2025. Marc has a Master's degree in History from the University of Southampton. He is a graduate of the London School of Economics, a qualified accountant, and a university lecturer in London.
