Did you know that the soil that we walk on and that we grow our food in is not just rocks and dirt, but a whole ecosystem? Soil is alive, it's home to billions of micro organisms, invertebrates and other animals. The health of the soil is key to a healthy climate and a healthy food system. Join us in this workshop on soil health and composting as we learn how our soil supports us and how we can support our soil.

At Art in The Gart's Adopt-A-Bed site, we will explore traditional bay composting, bokashi & composting with worms.

Participants will:

Gain an understanding of multiple methods of composting
Examine the connection between climate change & soil health
Explore our reliance on healthy soils for a healthy food system
Take part in practical, creative composting activities

Glasgow Eco Trust, Art in The Gart & FCA project have been working together to improve the composting system at Adopt-A-Bed site. Spaces for adopt-a-bed holders will be prioritised in the first instance.

Tea, coffee, light refreshments provided.

About Art in The Gart:

Art in the gart is a collective of arts organisations committed to delivering quality arts activity in partnership with patients, family members, staff and the general public at Gartnavel Royal Hospital. Curated by Project Ability the gallery showcases artwork which has a connection to mental health and health care environments. Exhibitions will appear throughout the year.

About Glasgow Eco Trust:

Glasgow Eco Trust is a local environmental charity and social enterprise based in west Glasgow that coordinates and delivers a range of environmental activities and services.

Access info:

Site is outdoors with little shelter. Please wear weather appropriate clothing. Site is wheelchair accessible. Seating will be available.

Info on access to toilets to provided by venue

Snacks & drinks will be provided

Session will be informal in nature. The site is open to patients, staff & the public, so please expect people to be sporadically entering & exiting the site.
